ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is part of Ava Garcia's master's thesis for the School of Journalism at the University of Arizona. Inspired by her classes in environmental science, Garcia used her project as a way to explore what people are doing to prepare for a future in a changed environment.

THE STORIES

The project explores the issue of climate change adaptation and mitigation in Arizona through five stories and four videos. The first story establishes how climate change will impact Arizona. The other four stories explore efforts to respond to these impacts through the lens of various institutions, each accompanied by a video story.

ABOUT THE REPORTER

Ava Garcia is a journalism graduate student at the University of Arizona. As a student reporter and intern at various publications, she has covered campus crime, sustainability, science and arts and culture.
